Last Friday, I was invited to a very special exhibition by one of the most influential fashion photographers of the world. In cooperation with fashion and lifestyle retailer Breuninger, the NRW-Forum Düsseldorf presented the first comprehensive museum exhibition of Rankin. Most of you may know him due to his world-renowned campaigns with models like Kate Moss, Heidi Klum or Gisele Bündchen. Or you just know him as he is co-founder of the style bible Dazed & Confused - one of the most important magazines
of the 90s which established its stylists in the fashion elite, broke
some of today’s top designers, and nurtured the budding careers of a
generation of creative photographers.
Anyhow, the exhibition really took my breath away. The photos shown were revealing, shocking, amusing and seductive all at once and they taped the full potential of Rankins ability - including nude photography. "This retrospective exhibition offers an unprecedented opportunity to review a vast and varied oeuvre and follows the evolution of a career that has always been in the vanguard of the profession", a responsable recaps. Nevertheless, you have to see it for yourself. The exhibition ceases on January 13th, 2013 and it's definitively worth a visit!
